Yuria The Witch is a master of the dark arts and has the ability to teach the player advanced spells after saving her. She is one of the available NPC characters that will aid the player on their journey. She also allows memorization of older Spells the player may have forgotten. Find her is essential for players who wish to step up their magic on the battlefield. For players focusing more on weapons or armor, Yuria The Witch can still be a valuable asset. First, players will need to rescue her first and this guide will show players how.

How To Rescue Yuria The Witch in Demon's Souls

To rescue Yuria The Witch, the player will need to have access to the Tower Knight Archstone in Boletarian Palace. Once this is available, the player will then need to full Fat Official Set. This includes his Cap, Gloves, Clothes, and Leggings. Players can obtain these by defeating Fat Officials in Stonefang Tunnel. First, the player will need to kill the two Fat Officials in Tower Knight Archstone to get the Iron Ring Keys.

From here, head back to the end area of Phalanx Archstone. There will be a door that opens with the keys. This leads to a basement with another Fat Official to defeat to get the Bloody Iron Key. Open the cell here to save Biorr. Now, head back to the start of Tower Knight Archstone and use the Bloody Key to open a gate in an alleyway behind the fountain. With the Fat Official gear equipped, the other Fat Official will lower the stairs of the tower. Here, players can find Yuria for the rescue.

Demon's Souls is one of the premier launch titles for the PlayStation 5. This remake will be many player's first experiences with these types of games. For those looking for a challenge meant to break your heart, Demon's Souls is the perfect title for them.

Yuria practices a dark form of Soul Arts, to the great disapproval of Saint Urbain and his followers. She was imprisoned by Executioner Miralda under the watchful eye of one of King Allant's Fat Officials, but if rescued by the player, becomes one of the two advanced Magic teachers, along with Sage Freke.

Dialogue from her and Biorr suggest that she has been subject to torture from the Fat Ministers. Inside the tower she is held captive there are two corpses holding the Ring of Magical Nature and the Ring of the Accursed. The item description of both these rings implies those corpses having been witches. Just like Stockpile Thomas' wife and daughter they have fallen victim to the Fat Ministers. (In 1-1 you find two hung corpses, one holding the Jade Hair Ornament and the other the old ragged robes set. Due to Thomas' dialogue when you give him the ornament it becomes clear that these corpses very likely were his wife and daughter. Again the other corpse holding the same armor set as Yuria suggests that his wife was a witch and that was probably the main reason for their execution.

Despite her use of dark Magic, Yuria is a kind, if timid woman, though she has demonstrated a remarkable temper, the quickest to become hostile out of all the NPCs. After the Slayer of Demons rescue Yuria she becomes infatuated with the protagonist, regardless of gender, going as far telling that she owes her life to the hero. Sage Freke once stated that Yuria's Magic is weaker than his because it stems from emotion, but no evidence exists that this is the case.

Strategy

Yuria turns hostile more quickly than other NPC. When antagonized, she will always cast Firestorm first. From then on, she will attack with Flame Toss, if the player is at a distance, or Firestorm, if the player is at mid-close range. Yuria will rarely pursue the player away from her corner unless they step out of her sight range, yet remain nearby. She instead tries to bait the player into approaching her, so she can attack with Firestorm.

Much like Sage Freke, Yuria never runs out of MP. When turned hostile, she will cast Firestorm up to three times and use Flame Toss constantly for a while, then eventually stop casting. She will begin casting again after a short break, but at a much lower rate.

Freke's power comes from human potential, while mine is a dark, dependent art.

    • I feel great misgivings about Freke.
I was branded a witch at a very young age, and since then, I have been persecuted as a threat to human society.
Although I never had ill-intentions, this black craft of mine is intrinsically evil.
If there is a God, he gave us souls to do good, not to practice witchcraft.
My accusers detested my dark arts for good reason, for the path I have taken is tainted.
This has been one of my realizations since coming to Boletaria.
But I am afraid that Freke, too, has ventured down the wrong path. He has become obsessed with the dark arts.

Yuria, the Witch is an NPC in Demon's Souls and Demon's Souls Remake. NPCs are the various characters that are encountered by the player throughout their journey. NPCs provide information, others are quest givers, while some are categorized as Merchants and/or Blacksmiths whom you can trade with or request for certain services.

Yuria practices a dark form of Soul Arts, to the great disapproval of Saint Urbain and his followers.

She was imprisoned by Executioner Miralda under the watchful eye of one of King Allant's Fat Officials, but if she is rescued by the player, becomes one of the two advanced Magic teachers, along with Sage Freke, the Visionary.

Yuria, the Witch Information

  • Teaches advanced spells.
  • Allows memorization of previously learned Spells. Unlike Sage Freke and his apprentice, she does not require 10 Magic and 10 Intelligence to memorize Spells.
  • Dialogue from her and Biorr suggests that she has been subject to torture from the Fat Ministers. Inside the tower, she is held captive there are two corpses holding the Ring of Magical Nature and the Ring of the Accursed. The item description of both these rings implies those corpses having been witches. Just like Stockpile Thomas' wife and daughter they have fallen victim to the Fat Ministers. After the Slayer of Demons rescue Yuria she becomes infatuated with the protagonist, regardless of gender, going as far as telling that she owes her life to the hero. Sage Freke, the Visionary once stated that Yuria's Magic is weaker than his because it stems from emotion, but no evidence exists that this is the case.

How to rescue Yuria

  • This side quest will require the player to have access to the Tower Knight Archstone.
  • Remake: You need to equip the FULL Fat Official Set.
  • Original: Obtain Iron ring of keys and Official's Cap by killing the two Fat Officials in Tower Knight Archstone.
  • Backtrack to the end area of Phalanx Archstone just before the Tower Knight boss fog. In the room with stairs going up into the tower, there is a door which can be unlocked using the Iron ring of keys.
  • This leads down to a dungeon below. Defeat the Fat Official down there to obtain the Bloody Iron Key and open the cells to rescue Biorr.
  • Go back to the beginning of Tower Knight Archstone, the Bloody Key will unlock the gate in the right alleyway behind the dog carts and fountain.
  • Follow the alleys, and eventually the player will arrive at a tower, where on the top floor there is a raised staircase and a watching Fat Official above.
  • Equip the Official's Cap as a disguise and the staircase will be lowered. In the Demon's Souls remake, you need to wear the entire Official set. Each piece is dropped by one of the Fat Officials in Stonefang Tunnel.
  • Defeat the Fat Official (he will not be hostile until you attack him or remove the hat).
  • Unequip the Official's Cap and speak to Yuria to finish the rescue.
  • Note: You keep the Official's Cap in New Game+ but you have to find the Iron ring of keys and Bloody Key again.
  • Note: Rescuing Biorr is not a necessary trigger for Bloody Key to work. Yuria can be rescued without ever opening Biorrs cell.

Strategies for Fighting

Attacks:

- Flame Toss
- Firestorm

Yuria turns hostile more quickly than other NPCs. When antagonized, she will always cast Firestorm first. From then on, she will attack with Flame Toss if the player is at a distance or Firestorm if the player is at mid-close range. Yuria will rarely pursue you away from her corner unless you step out of her sight range, yet remain nearby; she instead tries to bait you into approaching her so she can attack with Firestorm.

Much like Freke, Yuria never runs out of MP. When turned hostile, she will cast Firestorm up to three times and use Flame Toss constantly for a while, then eventually stop casting. She will begin casting again after a short break, but at a much lower rate.

Yuria, the Witch Notes, Tips, and Trivia

  • Voiced by: Jenny Funnel
  • Though it is not known if it is an intentional reference or not, Yuria shares the name of Kenshiro's fianceé in Fist of the North Star.

Sours: https://demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Yuria,+the+Witch

Yuria the Witch is a character in Demon's Souls.

Yuria is located in (1-3). To save her, the player will have to complete most of 1-3 to get a key, backtrack to 1-2 to obtain another key, and finally disguise yourself as a Fat Official by using the Official's Cap (Official's Set in the remake) to gain access to the area she is in. After you rescue her, she will be in the Nexus.

She teaches you advanced dark magic by using Demon's Souls. See the Magic/Miracles section for a list.

If you somehow lost the Official's Cap , you can kill Yuria using Firebomb, throwing them close to the first window upstairs where she is, without having to lower the staircase. Eventually she will become hostile and will walk to the edge, and from there it can also be attacked by arrows. (Credit: HiltonGorg)

Lore[]

It is implied that witches were rounded up and executed by the Fat Officials during their siege on Boletarian Palace, due to the remains of Stockpile Thomas' wife and daughter holding Spice. Yuria was similarly imprisoned for her use of magic, although she states that she came from outside Boletaria to seek the power of Demon Souls. Upon seeing their terrible power, she changed her mind and no longer seeks them.

All of Yuria's spells are designed to directly copy the magic used by the demons. This is different than Sage Freke, who seems to interpret the spell to his view of what it should be like.

Trivia[]

  • The Old Raggedy Set is the canon attire of Yuria, although the Three-Cornered Hat that functions as the headpiece is found in a totally different area.
  • The character Yuria of Londor from Dark Souls III shares the same name as Yuria, although her personality and attire are much more similar to Karla from the same game. Karla's Set, and even its description, heavily resembles the original Old Raggedy Set. The significant appearance change to Yuria's outfit in the remake inadvertently rendered this reference somewhat meaningless.
  • Yuria's original clothing also shares a passing resemblance with Eileen the Crow from Bloodborne.

Demon's Souls PS5 - How To Save Yuria The Witch

By Ryan Epps

Everything you need to know to find and save Yuria the Witch in the PS5 remake of Demon's Souls.

There are a plethora of side missions in Demon's Souls many new players might miss, as they require the slayer of demons to find and save characters who are locked away and hidden throughout the five navigable archstones. Once freed and saved, said characters will return to the Nexus, where they will sell useful items, advanced spells, and more to the player. While some characters may not be as friendly or as helpful as others, Yuria the Witch is certainly a must-have.

RELATED: 10 Awesome Areas That Most Players Will Never Find In Demon’s Souls PS5

To find and free her, the player must first have traversed beyond the two bosses of Boletaria, Phalanx, and the Tower Knight, as well as defeated all three in another area, preferably Stonefang Tunnel, as there are a few items necessary to find there before proceeding. Once the Dragon God has been slain, the player can then pass beyond the fog gate and enter into 1-3, where you will collect the Iron Key Ring and Official's Cap.

In the original Demon's Souls, to free Yuria from the tower the latter article of clothing was all that was necessary to trick the Official into dropping the stairs for the player. Now, in the remake, Bluepoint Games has added a full Official's set of clothing, the pieces of which can be found in both Boletaria and Stonefang. Here is the full set and their exact locations:

  • Official's Gloves - looted off the Fat Official in 2-1 found on top of the scaffolding over the lever that opens into the first fog gate of Stonefang.
  • Official's Leggings - looted off the Fat Official in 2-1 right before a fog gate after the lava pit in the room filled with exploding barrels.
  • Official's Cap - looted off the Fat Official in 1-3 on the parapets with the archers and the invisible assassin.
  • Official's Clothes - looted off the Fat Official in 2-2, after the exploding mine carts and next to the lift that leads down into the bowels of Stonefang Tunnel.

The Iron Key Ring will be looted off the Fat Official in 1-3 right before the gate that leads back to the Tower Knight archstone. You will need this to unlock the door leading down into the prison under the castle, where you will pick up the Bloody Iron Key from a fallen Fat Official and free yet another NPC from imprisonment: Biorr of the Twin Fangs. He is exceptionally helpful in your later fight with the Penetrator, so don't forget to unlock his cell.

After collecting the full Official's set and the Bloody Iron Key, head back to the Tower Knight archstone and go straight past the two dogs until you come across a gate, which can now be unlocked. Taking a right in the forked pathway will lead to the newly-added secret door provided by Bluepoint, so instead keep heading forward until you come across a second locked gate and a tower beyond. There you will find Yuria at the top of the tower held captive by a Fat Official, who will pull the lever and lower the stairs for you once you have donned all pieces of the Fat Official garb.

Before talking to Yuria, make sure to take off all of the Fat Official's clothing, as she will be a bit nasty to you otherwise. You will even gain a bronze trophy as a reward for your valiant endeavor, not to mention 6 powerful spells from Yuria in exchange for your precious Demon's Souls. These advanced spells are as follows:

  • Ignite - Hard Demon's Soul
  • Curse Weapon - Silver Demon's Soul
  • Firestorm - Dragon Demon Soul
  • Soul Thirst - Yellow Demon's Soul
  • Relief - Pureblood Demon's Soul
  • Soul Sucker - Maiden in Black's Demon's Soul

In the Nexus, you will find her off to the side in a corner near where Freke's Apprentice is. Be sure not to harm her, unless of course, you want to acquire her Three Cornered Hat and the Ring of Magical Nature.
