Rokoko motion library

Rokoko motion library DEFAULT

Motion-capture specialist Rokoko has made Motion Library, its formerly Unity-only online marketplace for motion-capture moves, available via Rokoko Studio, its own free-to-use software.

The functionality, which is available in the new Rokoko Studio 1.16 update, makes 150 high-quality mocap assets available to use for free.

A library of motion-capture data from the world’s leading studios
Launched in 2018, Motion Library is a set of mocap moves recorded by studios including the UK’s Audiomotion and Centroid, whose collective work includes Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Wonder Woman.

The library, which Rokoko describes as the “world’s largest mocap marketplace”, was originally only available to Unity users, via an integration plugin for the Unity editor.

Rokoko has now made it possible to browse and download assets via Rokoko Studio, its software for visualising and exporting mocap data, intended for use with its Smartsuit Pro inertial capture suits.

There is also a new native integration plugin for Maya, which ships with Maya 2020.1, also released today.

Get 150 of the library’s mocap moves for free
Although the bulk of the library consists of commercial assets, priced at $3 or $6 each, 150 of the moves are available for free.

By installing Rokoko Studio 1.16, artists can browse and preview the assets inside the software, then export them for use in other DCC tools.

The free moves are licensed for use in commercial projects.

New action moves recorded by God of War stunt performer Eric Jacobus
In addition, the library now includes 50 new moves recorded by SuperAlloy Interactive‘s Eric Jacobus, best known for his stunt work as Kratos in God of War.

Rokoko describes the new clips as including “physically intensive and high-impact movements – perfect for artists looking to add realism to their action-oriented projects”.

Updated: Rokoko has confirmed that the moves are available free to anyone using Motion Library, including Rokoko Studio users, although they were originally created for the launch of the Maya plugin.

Availability and system requirements
Rokoko Studio 1.16 is available for Windows 10 and macOS 10.14.2+. A free Basic subscription enables users to export data in FBX, BVH or CSV format.

Paid subscriptions to Rokoko Studio cost from $24/user/month to $119/user/month, and support integration plugins for other DCC software, including MotionBuilder, Unity and Unreal Engine.

A Guide to Getting Started with the Motion Library Plugin in Maya

Filter assets based on categories, gender, and if they areloopable or not.

Publishers

If you like the style or selection of a certain publisher, you can also browse assets based on the publishers on the platform.

Tile View

Tile view is the main, default view in the Motion Library. It gives you an overview of the 9 most relevant assets based on your search input and/or filter settings. You can always go back to the main tile view by clicking the "ML" icon in the top left corner.

When hovering over a tile, the animation will automatically start playing and you can orbit around the character by hitting "left-click + mouse move". By double-clicking you open the animation and go into full "Preview Mode".

Preview

In Preview Mode, you get a "full view" of a specific animation with a title, publisher name, and link to the publisher’s full profile. You can also see the price and more details about the animation.

You’ll have a range of preview options, including changing playback speed, viewing asset details, and previewing the motion on different character assets at runtime speed.

Preview Characters

When you browse the Motion Library, you see all the animations being played on Rokoko’s default character rig - "Newton". However, you can also choose to use another preview character - "Bruno". Keep an eye out for more preview characters of different styles and expressions coming soon!

Preview Cart

When you’re ready, you can add your selections directly to your cart or create a playlist in your Motion Libraryand go through the quick purchase flow before downloading them. All of the assets you purchase will be stored in your Rokoko account. You can find them under ‘Order Overview’ and download them as FBX files whenever you need them for a project. You can also share the assets you’ve purchased with your team.

My Library & Team Library

When clicking "Team Library" or "My Library" you will see an overview of all the assets you and your team have purchased. You can download them to your local computer and import them into a specific Maya scene. Note that your purchased assets belong to the team you are logged into.

Shortcuts and Navigation

In Tile View, the outline of tiles help you get a quick indication of their status:

  • No outline: Not purchased
  • Blue outline: In shopping cart
  • Green outline: Purchased and ready to download
  • Green dotted outline: Downloaded and ready to import

In Tile View you have the following navigation options:

    • Hover over the tile to see the animation play
    • "Left-click and move mouse" on the tile to orbit
    • Add to cart by clicking the basket icon

In Preview Mode you have the following navigation options:

    • "Escape-key" to close the view
    • "Space-key" to play/pause recording
    • "Left-key/right-key" to scrub the play-head back and forward.

    Use it in Maya

You can use the motion assets you buy through the Motion Library plugin just like you use any other animation asset in a project. They are made to support Maya’s native HIK retargeting workflows out-of-the-box. Check out the video below for a walkthrough from start to finish using the Motion Library in Maya.

Note: When buying an asset from the Motion Library, you download it as an FBX file containing only the movement on the skeleton. This means that no mesh or characters are included. Some assets come with finger animation as well, which will be shown in the preview and on the tag info in the plugin.

Motion capture made

What is Motion Capture?

Motion capture is the process of making human (and sometimes animal) motion digital. With the help of optical sensors or markers, the motion data is transmitted from an actor to a computer. Here, the captured motion data is used for animating 2D or 3D models. In game dev and filmmaking, motion capture is an unparalleled method for making animated characters move more realistically. Compared to code based animation, it is also superior in terms of speed and accuracy.

How much does a motion capture system cost?

Traditionally, motion capture required big budgets, custom made studios, and countless pre- and post-production hours. This meant that it was a tool exclusive to the wealthy few. But thanks to advancements in sensor and IK technology, the magic of motion capture and 3D character animation is now accessible to indie 3D artists too. At Rokoko, we offer high-end motion capture tools at a price most creators can afford. We offer a full body mocap suit, finger tracking gloves and a face capture app for full performance capture. Set up our tools in less than a minute anywhere you want, from your personal home office mocap studio to your favourite outdoor environments.

Which animation software supports motion capture?

Our motion capture animation software Rokoko Studio lets you visualize, create, edit, and export mocap animation assets. It also gives you access to thousands of AAA-quality motion capture assets from our Motion Library. The basic version is free for everyone to download and use, with additional features at a supplementary cost. With Rokoko Studio Live, you can sync and stream one or multiple motion capture devices into the same scene directly to your preferred 3D animation software for real-time character animation. Rokoko Studio supports plugin integrations for Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, MotionBuilder, Houdini, iClone, CTA4, Isadora and Siemens Jack. Real-time productions and previsualization - at an affordable price - where you need to see the mocap animations applied to your CG characters in their own environment are now possible.

Thinking about it and sighing heavily, I collapsed into bed. The gaze rested on a chandelier, poorly guessed in the dark. I smiled, remembering how the bra of Marina Ivanovna dangled on her, whom I had brought here twenty years (really, so long ago ?!) back from another booze.

Out of the corner of my eye I looked at their lovely lush breasts, the contours of which could be clearly seen from this position. Quite a. Long time passed in this way. At some point, I was honored to rub oil on Natalia's back and legs: I gladly touched the hot delicate female skin, crumpled and massaged it.

Natalia smeared Liya herself, and then she smeared me with butter, and I enjoyed the touch of gentle hands on my back and.

Igor laughed. What do you want so badly. Well, you know me.
