Schone schijn is er genoeg in de markt van tweedehands auto's. Maar wat zit er onder die glanzende motorkap? Als onafhankelijke aanbieder van kentekenchecks en voertuighistorie heeft CARFAX een missie: om je zo veel mogelijk informatieve mijlpalen (zogenaamde meldingen) uit het leven van een tweedehands auto te bieden. We willen namelijk dat jij je volgende tweedehands auto leert kennen. Van binnen en van buiten. En dat alles vóórdat je beslist, je leven met hem te delen.

We hebben daarvoor een unieke tool: een databank met meer dan 25 miljard historische meldingen uit het leven van gebruikte auto's. 3 miljard daarvan komen uit Europa. En deze databank groeit dagelijks. Zelfs als de gebruikte auto uit een land komt waarvan we geen informatie hebben, is een kentekencheck de moeite waard. Wie weet, misschien blijkt die kleine Italiaan wel grotendeels uit Oost-Europa te komen.

Maar begrijp ons niet verkeerd. We doen ons uiterste best om de complete achtergrond van een voertuig door te lichten, maar de achtergrond van de vorige eigenaren houden we er buiten. De meldingen in onze databank hebben op geen enkele wijze betrekking op personen. We richten ons uitsluitend op de gebruikte auto en zijn kilometerstand, mogelijke verdekte ongevallen, waar de auto vandaan komt en nog véél meer. Soms vinden we ook niks. En dat is alleen maar mooi, toch?

Waarom is uitgerekend vóór de aankoop de voertuighistorie zo belangrijk? Het is een feit dat er meer gebruikte auto's dan nieuwe auto's worden verkocht. Deze vorm van hergebruik kunnen we natuurlijk alleen maar anmoedigen. Maar daardoor ontstaan natuurlijk ook in de markt gangbare methoden en tactieken om schadewagens in goud om te toveren, de kilometerstand te manipuleren of andere dingen zoals de herkomst of zelfs diefstal te maskeren. Het zijn allemaal onvermijdelijke nadelen van een vrije markt in occasions. Wij vinden, dat je nieuwe tweedehands auto je juist een gevoel van zekerheid zou moeten geven. Daarom is ons doel, dat jij je bij het kopen van je auto goed voelt en dat je niet het gevoel krijgt, dat je teveel voor je nieuwe levensgezel hebt betaald.

Toch willen wij vooral dat je niet onbewust aan het stuur van een risicowagen komt te zitten. Wij helpen dagelijks om dit soort wagens letterlijk uit de roulatie te halen. Zo maken we niet alleen de markt van tweedehands auto's, maar uiteindelijk ook onze straten veiliger.

CARFAX - MEER DAN 35 JAAR ERVARING MET KENTEKENCHECKS

CARFAX is in 1984 in de Verenigde Staten opgericht en maakte in 2007 de stap naar Europa. Momenteel werken 100 medewerkers bij zes Europese filialen om meldingen uit het leven van tweedehands auto's uit meer dan 20 landen te verwerken.

Door langdurige samenwerkingen met toezichthouders, handhaving, ministeries, verzekeringsmaatschappijen, taxateurs, automotive partijen en andere toonaangevende organisaties zijn wij in staat om een unieke internationale databank voor tweedehands auto's op te bouwen. Met meer dan 25 miljard meldingen is deze tot nu toe de grootste databank van voertuighistorie wereldwijd. En elke dag komen er meer meldingen bij. We gebruiken deze databank als basis voor een aantal slimme voertuighistorie-applicaties, zoals bijvoorbeeld ons uitgebreide voertuighistorierapport. Zo maken wij de occasion-markt transparanter.

Ondanks deze nauwe samenwerking met instanties en bedrijven zijn wij neutraal en onafhankelijk. Want uiteindelijk is ons doel, onze klanten zoveel mogelijk voorlichting en veiligheid te bieden. Daarbij gebruiken we overigens geen persoonsgerelateerde informatie en houden we altijd rekening met de wet op de gegevensbescherming. Verder gebruiken we de informatie altijd met het oog op juridische randvoorwaarden - en dat doen we in alle landen waar we actief zijn. Van illegale activiteiten als bijvoorbeeld datadiefstal, scraping of hacking distantiëren we ons nadrukkelijk.

  • I Just wanna give a Big Shoutout to Adam!! He was great, very friendly & talkative. He wasn't too forceful with the sale unlike others. But if you do go to this dealership look for Adam, he greets you with a nice warm smile & he is so understanding. Pricing can be a little hefty is all.

  • Only thing nice for me to say is that Bernard is the man, no BS type of guy and I have a lot of respect for him.

    The woman in financing left a bad taste in my mouth and showed probably the worst display of professionalism I've ever seen.  When someone comes in and states, "I will only allow you to run my financing through so and so bank," you should probably not ignore them and do things your way.  You should also probably not get angry when a customer tells you no; arguing with a customer is beyond rude and a magnificent way of losing future business.

    Also, don't purchase anything used from them that isn't a Toyota, you'll be sorry.

    After having this vehicle for just 7 months I can officially say that this is by far the worst experience and worst vehicle I have ever owned.  I've had to put another $2,000+ into a vehicle that I just purchased.  Control arms are shot, tie rods are about to be shot, sway bar end links also are getting there.  Plus the vehicle throws misfire codes on a regular basis.  Just more and more bad stuff happening every day.  Stay away from these people unless you want to throw your money down the drain.  How dare you take advantage of a single dad with 3 kids with a unacceptable answer of "you should've purchased our extended warranty."  Fact of the matter is, there's no way you missed this during your initial check in which means you are willing to sell a vehicle with issues you know needed to be fixed immediately.  What a joke!

    So far so good, I'll update on my experience soon.  My salesperson was absolutely amazing, I just wish I remembered his name; older gentleman that walks with a cane and had a really awesome name.

    My wife and I stopped in last week, and followed up yesterday to obtain both new vehicle prices and a possible trade-in value on one of our vehicles... The sales woman (Ashley Hastings) was fantastic! She had vehicles by the door and ready to go when I arrived, as well as, having done research to ensure she could answer all of our questions... While largely sold at that point, it was just a matter of picking one of very few new vehicles on their lot, or waiting for a specific vehicle which was in transit and about one month out... We also needed to decide if we would trade an older vehicle, or keep it at our vacation home simply for transportation...

    Without going into detail, the sale quickly went south as the sales manager interjected himself into the transaction.... While the purchase was not contingent on a trade, the fact he placed a value close to $5k lower than both NADA and another local dealer was a telling... He then offered to match the other dealer (Who offered a higher value, but still below NADA), contingent on the purchase of a specific in stock vehicle... When we questioned selling them our trade and purchasing a more expensive vehicle today, which was in transit, and simply waiting the 30-60 days to take delivery, he again indicated he would lower the value of my trade to the original amount...

    The following day, prior to contacting the sales woman to explain I'd like to make the purchase, less any trade, the same manager called... When asked why I left the prior evening, I explained my concern with his trade valuation... He quickly appeared intent on being argumentative and confrontational... I explained, the source of his offer was irrelevant, the value he assigned did not justify my the vehicle to make the purchase.... He remained argumentative until I terminated the call....

    In sum, approx two years ago my wife and I walked into the same dealership, picked out two vehicles, Bernard (I believe) wrote up the sale... We paid cash and left... It was a very pleasant experience... We traveled from Walworth County expecting a similar, very professional experience... While we were impressed with Ms Hastings, the manager made it clear, this dealership is no longer interested in simply selling new vehicles at MSRP, they also expect their customers to trade in vehicles at a substantial discount... If not willing to do that, they have no interest in making a sale... We will again be purchasing two vehicles this year, but it will no longer be from this dealership...

  • First time here for maintenace on my older Lexus. Spark plugs, alignment, gear oil drain and fill for differential. I can turn a wrench, but some things are better left to the pros!

    Making the appointment was easy. They offer shuttle service and a low cost rental car. (I passed on both). i dropped my car off a whole day early and they were able to get to it and finish it before my scheduled appointment.

     Tairie, my service advisor and Jose the Service Manager were very helpful and professional. They explained things, listened to my concerns, and the old plugs were saved as requested.

    There was some confusion in regards to the plugs I was getting. The work order said "standard plugs". Platinum and irridium are extra. I was not happy after noticing this after the fact. OEM plugs are irridium... As it turns out they did in fact install OEM irridium plugs at the price they told me. Tairie was able to prove it to my satisfaction.

    Service was excellent.  They did good work and it was done quick. And the price? They were much cheaper than my former independent shop! So glad I called around!

  • Let me tell you I dreaded having to go through the process of buying a car, but this was a breeze start to finish.   Sir Victor Bryant is one of the most pleasant people I have ever dealt with. He is professional, courteous, thorough and knowledgeable.  He went above and beyond to assist me...more than I can imagine any typical sales person doing...Sir Victor is NOT typical...he is extrordinary!!!   Finance Tom is one of the best finance guys I have ever dealt with as well.

  • I was interested in purchasing a car scheduled a test drive and when I drove 2 hours they literally sold the car right in front of me and basically tried to sell me something else like it didn't even happen and now it's 2 months later I found a different car somewhere else and they are still harassing me trying to sell me a car!

    Bottom line customer service was unacceptable and they did everything but take care of me I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone period.....
