The AAA Club Alliance offers 24/7 services to assist AAA members with their automotive, insurance, travel, and money needs, including banking and loans. As an employer, the AAA Club Alliance offers "a fantastic place to work" and looks for applicants with "talent, drive, technical knowledge, and superior service skills." Ideal candidates are further described as "helpers looking for a way to help," as the company asserts that AAA, at its core, is all about helping people. Flexible work arrangements offered by the AAA Club Alliance have included part-time and up to 100% remote jobs in the past, including full-time opportunities and roles in customer service, call center, insurance, and other career areas. AAA is known for having your back while you're on the road, but now the company is looking to hire desk agents who don’t even have to leave their home.

AAA Club Alliance just announced that it is hiring travel help desk support specialists who can work remotely from home following an initial on-site training period.

The position technically operates out of AAA’s New Jersey call center, but individuals who complete the introductory program can then work virtually anywhere they please.

These full-time positions are part of AAA’s customer service team and require employees to answer inquiries, provide recommendations, and make travel reservations for AAA members. Employees will also help callers with navigating the Travel Syndication Technology website.

On top of getting to work from the comfort of your couch, the job comes with some other sweet perks, too. The pay is between $17 to $19 an hour based on travel and customer service experience. Plus, you get about four weeks of paid time off and paid holidays on top of medical, dental, and vision benefits. The position also comes with a paid training and tuition reimbursement program, and a 401(k) plan with a 7% employer match feature. Another pro of working for AAA? Complimentary premier level membership for your own travel plans.

Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or an equivalent as well as a general knowledge of computers and PC programs. Prior experience with Apollo, a global distribution system (GDS), is preferred. If hired, you’ll also be required to attend a five-to-eight week long training program in Hamilton, New Jersey, and work evening and night hours.

Sound like a fit? Head on over to AAA’s website to apply. Fingers crossed!

As more Texans pack their bags and resume traveling again after the COVID-19 pandemic, AAA Texas is hiring 50 workers across the state to help meet a surge in demand.

The company will add travel advisers, insurance agents and other customer service positions ahead of what’s projected to be a record-setting summer for travel. The company has 29 offices statewide, 14 of which are in Dallas-Fort Worth.

It also plans to add more than 200 positions in its Texas call centers, which provide roadside assistance to member drivers, before the end of the year.

Memorial Day weekend travel in Texas was close to pre-pandemic levels and hasn’t slowed down since, said AAA Texas spokesman Daniel Armbruster.

“It’s just accelerated from there,” he said.

AAA Texas expects a record number of leisure travelers for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, forecasting that nearly 3.7 million Texans will be traveling between July 1-5, up 3% from the previous record in 2019. Most of them will be hitting the road, with 3.3 million residents predicted to travel by car. This year’s record number of drivers is a 10% increase from the previous high, also recorded in 2019.

“With more people getting vaccinated and the pent-up demand from people staying at home for so long, there’s so many people that want to travel now,” Armbruster said.

Air travel will see increased demand during the holiday weekend as well. AAA Texas forecasts a 177% increase in Texas air travel from 2020 figures, mirroring a national rise in passenger traffic as pandemic restrictions relax. The Transportation Security Administration reported that it screened over 2.1 million passengers last Sunday, the highest figure since March 2020.

AAA Texas has 2.3 million members statewide, a figure that has risen during the pandemic as travelers seek extra support to travel amid uncertainty. As the travel industry navigates the growing pains of rebounding from the pandemic and deals with problems including canceled flights, labor shortages and high fuel prices, Armbruster said the travel adviser positions have become crucial for AAA.

The company is hiring in its offices in Dallas-Fort Worth, Amarillo, Austin, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio.

How to Become a AAA Hotel Inspector

Whether traveling for business or pleasure, staying in a hotel is a big investment of money and time. Third-party organizations, such as AAA, provide unbiased reviews and ratings so that guests can be sure they’re getting their money’s worth, no matter where they stay. AAA employs hotel inspectors to review and rate hotels, handing out diamond ratings, based on objective qualifications. Hotel inspector jobs with AAA require experience in the travel industry and a love for hospitality and travel.

Job Description

Using guidelines selected by AAA members, hotel inspectors give each travel property a rating, ranging from one diamond, which offers basic amenities and features, to five diamonds, which represents the top properties in the world. The rating is based on categories that include staff members, housekeeping, guest services and decor and ambiance. AAA hotel inspectors use and utilize all aspects of the hotel, including check-in, concierge, rooms, amenities, and restaurants. They do everything from timing the waiters in the restaurant to checking the room for bed bugs to swimming in the pools. Hotel inspectors, who are sometimes called hotel critics, take notes, fill out forms and speak with hotel managers about why their property got the rating it did.

Education Requirements

Because of the anonymous nature of the job, the exact education and experience requirements for a AAA hotel inspector are vague. Based on the profiles of current inspectors, most have a background in hospitality or travel. Many have degrees in hotel management, hospitality or other related studies. They’ve held other travel and hospitality positions like travel agent, tour operator and food service and hotel workers. Important attributes to hold as an inspector include working well under pressure and being able to handle a fast-paced schedule. An inspector also has a strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.

Pushpins fill the maps of AAA hotel inspectors, as they get to travel the United States, Canada and the Bahamas, visiting hotels and resorts. Hotel reviewer jobs include year-round travel covering a certain region. For example, one inspector may be in charge of the Southeastern United States, while another covers the Northwest. Sometimes, inspectors must use an alias or fake name when checking into hotels, as hotel managers may be on the lookout for them to show up for an inspection. Other times, the inspector interacts with the manager during the entire process. Hotel inspectors can expect to work long hours when on an inspection trip. They also get to enjoy experiences typically reserved for the rich, famous and well-traveled.

Years of Experience and Salary

As of 2016, a hotel inspector salary with AAA ranges from $41,000 to $44,000 a year, according to Glassdoor. Along with a yearly salary, inspectors get additional benefits like health, dental and pension plans, as well as extras such as paid time off, career development and training, and employee discounts.

Job Growth Trend

The job growth trend for a hotel critic with AAA should be steady in the future, as AAA inspects thousands of hotels each year and needs inspectors to get those reviews done.

  • Sixty percent of an AAA hotel inspectors’ job is traveling. Applicants will need a major credit card with a limit of at least $1,500, as well as access to a reliable automobile.
  • AAA considers bilingual applicants a plus, particularly those who can speak Quebec French or Spanish.
