Mission Statement

We are comprised of volunteers who open up their hearts and homes to death row animals. Our focus on the "Last Chance" animals. These are wonderful puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats whose death is imminent. We give them the necessary medical treatment and find them loving homes. Our goals are to rescue and place animals that have no hope that have no timethat will be killed despite the fact that they may be pregnant, puppies, kittens, or surrendered family pets!

Eleventh Hour Rescue Employee Reviews

The worst job ive ever had

Kennel attendant (Former Employee) - Randolph, NJ - December 4,

Ive had MANY jobs throughout my life, and id have to say working at 11th hour rescue was the worst job i have ever had. The dogs are great, dont get me wrong, but the people are horrible. The management is not good. I got hurt on the job and it was like they didnt even care. I was in the hospital and they said if i didnt come into work i would be fired even though i had a doctors note. WHAT!? Everyone is very mean. Good luck meeting friendly people if you havent been there for 5+ years. New hires are treated like garbage. Theres gossip and rumors. Even the volunteers that have been there for years are mean. Talking smack about other employees. I just dont get it. They spend money on useless things while we were constantly running out of food and working in very unsafe conditions. There are WAY too many dogs. I get its a non profit and a reacue, but the conditions that the dogs are living in are not good. They know how many dogs are currently at the rescue, and yet transports of up to 30 dogs would come weekly. I honestly dont know why i stayed for a year. I dreaded going to work but i knew i was making a dufference. I would come in on my day off to clean and walk dogs, i brought dirty dog laundry into my own home when the washing machine broke, i bought toys and food and cleaning products for the shelter, my family even donated $2, to support the rescue. And did i ever get a thank you in return? Nope! Never acknowledged for my work or effort.
Overall, i support the cause, but not the job. I suggest working somewhere else where they value the employees. Ive found great -

Eleventh Hour Rescue

3 years ago we adopted our best friend, Chloe (formally known as Myra-Harvard). She is our first dog, and is the most incredible gift in our lives.

I remember seeing her photo on the EHR website and thinking she looked beautiful. The day my husband and I went down to Rockaway to look at a few dogs my husband said to me, "We're not coming home with a dog today." and I said, "of course not, we're just going to look". Well, from the moment she jumped into my arms, she instantly stole my heart. I didn't even need to say anything; my husband just knew this dog was coming home with us.

We are completely amazed, bemused, and delighted by Chloe's sweet and loving demeanor. Full of energy, she enjoys her long walks and time at the dog park, but is also a total cuddle-bug. With her tail always wagging, she LOVES everyone she meets. She follows us everywhere we go, lays on the floor while we cook, sits at our feet while we eat, and curls up on our laps when we're watching TV.

Thank you Eleventh Hour for granting us the privilege of being Chloe's new family. We feel incredibly blessed to have this beautiful, darling, loving, furry little soul in our home. We are so grateful to everyone who had a part in taking care of her long the way. To the volunteers and workers at EHR who give countless hours, long nights and weekends, and make terrific personal sacrifices in order to ensure these dogs get the love and attention they deservethank you. It is because of you, and because of the positive experience we had adopting Chloe that I made the decision to become a volunteer myself. We are forever grateful to you and to this organization for bringing this wonderful bundle of energetic joy into our lives.

Support us in our mission to find them FURever homes

Eleventh Hour Rescue is made up of dedicated individuals who believe that innocent pets deserve love and a place to live where they are honored and cared for. No dog or cat deserves to die simply because they do not have a home.

We rescue dogs and cats at the "eleventh hour"-- when they are scheduled to be put to death by shelters who can no longer care for them. We give the dogs and cats all the medical attention they require, a place to live, and through our adoption services, a second chance at a happy and fulfilled life. We are affiliated with many like-minded animal groups throughout the United States.

We invite caring people to join us as volunteers and graciously accept help in the form of time, supplies and monetary contributions. Eleventh Hour Rescue is a % volunteer organization funded exclusively by donations.

Help us continue our mission with a strong push this year and please consider a recurring donation. Your tax-deductible contribution will be greatly appreciated by our whole organization as we care for and help match our dogs and cats to caring homes that will welcome them to a new life full of love.

Your donation may also be doubled by your employer! Grow your donation by checking here to see if your company is one that matches.

You can also click here to make your own Facebook Fundraiser in our name.

You can even send cash or check donations by mail to the PO Box listed below,

Eleventh Hour Rescue - Foster

Be THE difference in saving a life!

Eleventh Hour Rescue is always looking for wonderful foster homes.

Our foster program is one of our most important means of saving the lives of unwanted dogs and cats. Won't you consider joining our team by offering your home as a temporary safe haven for an unfortunate animal that is in desperate need of help!

Foster Dog Application         Foster Cat Application

Fostering is providing a temporary home for a rescue pet awaiting adoption. Many of the pets who need foster homes require extra care and attention which our kennel cannot always provide, But in a loving foster home, every pet can get the individual attention he/she needs to find a forever family.

By opening your heart and home to one of Eleventh Hour Rescue’s (“EHR”) homeless pets, you can be confident you’ve helped save a pets life. Even better, you’ve created space in our kennel to save another abandoned or abused pet.

Our foster program is designed to help the pets we’ve rescued from high-kill shelters get a second chance at finding a home — a chance they most likely would not have gotten at those shelters. Your generosity provides our rescued pets a chance to decompress, heal and grow before finding their forever homes. The Foster Program plays an integral part in the rescue’s ability to adopt out as many as 2, orphaned pets annually.

Fostering is a very rewarding experience. Foster pets provide companionship and purpose.

Your act of kindness is repaid in rewards that are beyond words.

WHAT DO FOSTER FAMILIES NEED TO PROVIDE?

Foster families should be compassionate, caring and patient and provide their foster pets with:

  • A healthy and safe indoor environment for their foster pet
  • Transportation to and from the Eleventh Hour Rescue Adoption Centers and veterinarians if needed.
  • Socialization and time to help teach pets positive family and pet relationships.
  • Lots of exercise and positive stimulation to help them develop into great pets.
  • High quality food. While it’s appreciated if fosters can provide food, Eleventh Hour Rescue can assist if necessary.

HOW LONG DO PETS NEED TO BE IN FOSTER CARE?

Every situation is different.  Foster commitments range from just a couple of days to several months.  Eleventh Hour Rescue's Foster Team will assist you in choosing a foster pet that best fits your lifestyle.

WHAT TYPES OF DOGS NEED FOSTER HOMES?

ALL rescue dogs greatly benefit from a foster home, but those in most need of fostering are:

  • Dogs suffering from "kennel stress" in need of a calming home environment
  • Scared or timid dogs that shut down in a kennel environment
  • Older or senior dogs that will be more comfortable in a home environment
  • Young dogs who require some structure and more socialization than available at the kennel
  • Neglected or abused dogs that need tender loving care
  • Injured dogs and/or those recovering from surgery or a medical procedure
  • Dogs with special needs
  • Abandoned mothers with litters of puppies
  • Dogs that need to be the only pet in the home

So many animals are given up for varying reasons; without the Foster Program, many of these loving pets would be euthanized.

Please help our animals by becoming the link between their old life and their new.

How fostering for Eleventh Hour Rescue works

When we receive animals for rescue, our first thought is to place them into a loving foster home until a permanent home can be found.  If a foster home is not available, we have to place the animal into a kennel.  While a kennel does provide a safe place for the animal to stay until he or she can be placed, it doesn't provide the love and companionship of a foster home -- and the financial burden of housing an animal in a kennel is significant.

If you choose to join the foster program; first, we ask you complete an application. Volunteers from EHR will review the application and conducted an interview, and we may also perform a home visit.   Foster homes are asked only to provide the animal with love and care, make sure veterinary care is supplied by one of our approved vets (EHR covers the cost), and bring the dog to adoption events.

Once your home has been approved, you will be contacted periodically and asked to foster a pet in need. Your choice! Your decision!  Once your foster pet has been adopted, you can either move right on to the next one, or take a break in between!

🔴 Robin Bullock Prophetic Word: KAMAlA'S Coming Whirlwind

Welcome to Eleventh Hour Rescue

The COVID pandemic has brought many challenges and changes for each of us.  We are all trying our best to adapt to the “new normal.”  One thing we never anticipated seeing is the incredibly high demand for adoptable animals.  We are receiving hundreds of applications and inquiries every day.  Rescues all around the nation are having the same experience.  One ray of light amid this horrible pandemic has been the fact that so many homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals are finding their forever homes.   However, due to this high demand, and because we are a volunteer-run organization, we cannot always be as responsive as we would like. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. If you’ve reached out to us and have not heard back yet, please accept our sincere apologies and know that we are working hard and doing the best we can in these challenging times. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and willingness to open your homes and hearts to a rescue animal in need.
