3.5 Hours. That’s how long I pushed with my son, Sidney. My epidural had issues taking and then totally wore off. It was a tough, yet beautiful, labor. Click here to see his story.
I had emotionally prepared myself for a similar story… and by emotionally prepared, I mean I had mini panic attacks all throughout Christmas day thinking about what was to come. Little did I know, my baby girl would have a birth story completely unlike her brother.
I've been out of the photography game for a little bit. But when I got the text Friday that they needed a photographer the following morning for a wedding ceremony, my heart exploded.
I've known Michael for what feels like forever. His sister was one of my bridesmaids and still a very close friend. Jamie and I have worked together at FedEx for a long time. When I found out the two of them were dating, my two worlds collided and it just made sense. They are so in love and so perfect for each other.
They knew instantly it was right. I told them that I knew Ryan was the man I was going to marry the moment I shook his hand for the first time. Sometimes, you just know instantly.
Jamie & Michael, I am so happy for you. I am also looking forward to being in the Grove this fall! I wish you many years of happiness and love. Hope you enjoy your pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
To say Brittany and I go way back is an understatement. I love this sweet bride. We've been friends for a long time, and I was so honored that she asked me to photograph her big day. I loved everything about it. The colors were so rich; the lighting was phenom. the inside jokes had me laughing the whole time. I'm so blessed to know a lot of this wedding party and call many of them good friends.
Chris lights up when he sees Brittany. It's so sweet. And his sentimental wedding gift to his bride had all of us in tears. While he got her these amazing shoes she'd been wanting, he surprised her with a Bible that had her name new monogrammed on it. <3
Brittany, you were such a stunning bride. I refrained from saying this on your wedding day because I knew I'd start crying, but you were def channeling your inner-Belle. ;) (Inside joke) I'm so happy for you, and I'm so happy you found someone that treats you like the queen you are!
If you haven't seen the new Zambezi exhibit at the Memphis zoo, you are seriously missing out! As if it isn't cool enough during the day, at night, fire ignites, and an incredible event venue unfolds. We had a BLAST shooting this wedding recently. From the sweet, emotional, and intimate ceremony... to the INSANELY fun reception complete with shots of Fireball brought out on silver trays for a toast to the bride and groom... I'm pretty sure I was limping by the end of the night from all the running we were doing. WORTH IT!
I knew the day was going to be spectacular though when I arrived to the Peabody for the 'getting ready' shots and entered a two story hotel room with GORGEOUS natural lighting! ... My photographer-heart melted.
And check out their adorable sparkler exit followed by a sweet kiss on the back of an awesome car, complete with a high-five - As if to say, 'Nailed it!' Your wedding day is so fun, but there is nothing much sweeter than knowing that all the stress is over and you just get to enjoy being married!
I'm so happy for Amanda and Ben! I hope you enjoy this sneak from their day!
I've waited a very long time to share this story with you. The story of the day I became a mommy.
A few things you should know before watching Sidney's journey:
- We didn't know the gender. I'm a control-freak. Letting go of this huge thing in my life was a challenge. Since Sidney would be the name for either gender, that made it a little easier - Seriously, the day I met Ryan, I knew we would get married, and the day he told me his middle name (Sidney), I knew that'd be our first child's name. My hubby went to every single doc appointment to make sure I didn't crack. The 9 months of torture was totally worth that one beautiful moment.
- Sidney James is named after our two grandaddy's in heaven - Sidney (Ryan's grandfather - and also Ryan's middle name) and James (my grandfather). When you see me tell the gender and name to my father, it's an extremely emotional moment. We kept the middle name a surprise to everyone, so that's the first time my dad found out Sidney's middle name was named after his dad. You'll see he looks over at my grandmother, that was her husband. I wouldn't trade that moment for anything in the world.
- The hairspray bottle at the beginning. Ummm yeah sorry. Ryan and I got preggo about a year before we were planning. When I found out, I was pregnant, I threw my phone down when I heard Ryan coming and pressed record. He can read me like a book, so I knew I couldn't hide it.
I'd like to say everything went as planned. Of course, it didn't. But God's Plan is perfect.
I was flooded with an idea - If she couldn't move her wedding, we could at least have a small ceremony where her daddy could walk her down the aisle followed by a small reception, and I would volunteer my photography services for it. So I reached out to a florist, hair/makeup artist, and a venue. When both agreed, I reached out to Nicole with PicStripPhotoBooth. She volunteered her photobooth, and said she could get us a DJ. So with that, I reached out to a baker, and an event planner, both agreed without hesitation. Before I knew it, within 3 hours time, I had a wedding full of vendors all volunteering their services. (A full list of all amazing vendors involved is at the end of this blog post).
So next, I needed to reach out to Lauren. I told her I had a team of vendors that were willing to ensure her daddy walked her down the aisle on March 13. It was just up to her if she was willing to accept. After an emotional conversation and many tears, Lauren and Bryant accepted the offer. She already had a dress, but her veil wouldn't be here in time. So I reached out to Molly Farrell with Maggie Louise, and she didn't even hesitate to donate a veil to our sweet bride.
The week leading up to the wedding, the forecast for the day called for storms all day. When we woke up Saturday morning, the sun was streaming through our windows. The rain held out all day. At one point, we looked at the radar and a circle of storm clouds was above us. But right in the middle was a hole... And in the hole was Annesdale Mansion. Then literally, the second we finished the reception exit, the sky opened up and it poured the rest of the night. We all knew God had His hand on us
Thomas's senior session ~ Memphis portrait photographer
Ok, have I mentioned how much I love photographing seniors?! Well, I do.........I really, really do!
The senior year of high school is such an exciting time in every teenager's life and senior portraits have come such a long way! When I was a senior, the only options we had were those cheesy studio shots with big numbers, plastic plants, and mirrors and some of you know exactly what i'm talking about!!! And now, well, these young adults get to express themselves in their senior session and we get to create images that reflect who they really are at this time in their lives and I think that is pretty freakin' awesome! Self expression for the win!!!
For this handsome gent's session, we decided to start in my studio because he had a couple of ideas in mind for cool shots that required some dramatic lighting that I knew would be easy to achieve in the studio. Thomas loves photography and the fact that he came to his session with a killer attitude and an open mind just made it that much easier to get the shot and I'd say he nailed it!
After we wrapped up in the studio, we headed outdoors which is my favorite place to be!
And then Thomas did a quick outfit change and we headed to the beach! Well, as close to the beach as you can get in Memphis. i will just go ahead and say that this was my favorite set of images from the session. He was completely relaxed and immediately got rid of his shoes and climbed onto the tree. The images have an "island life" vibe that looks great on Thomas! And yes, just stating the obvious here, he's pretty easy on the eyes!
Thomas plays water polo for Arlington High so we finished up his session at the pool where his team practices. When his mom presented this idea to me, I was all about it! I'm always up for something different and had a blast shooting these!!!
It's a great big world out there Thomas and I'm excited to see where you go next! I have zero doubts that you will do great things:)
Congratulations to Thomas Scott ~ Class of 2018

Spanked me heartily in the ass, and finally finished, I felt the sperm flowing inside me, how I throb all the buttocks, labia and every muscle. My head was spinning, I was left standing cancer on the chair, trying to catch my breath and waiting for the boss to "plug" me. This was also his new rule: whoever fucked me, had to end up in the ass, after which the cork was inserted.
At the end of the day, I had to squeeze out every drop of sperm and drink. To be honest, I liked it, I felt like a kind of sacred vessel.Senior Portraits at Uniquely Yours Photography
