This page explains how to find the Ne'ez Yohma shrine and solve the "Pushing Power" puzzle.

How to Reach the Shrine

Activate Lanayru Tower, then float down from the north edge to reach the Soh Kofi Shrine. From there, you can go east along the road, and it will take you to Zora's Domain. The Ne'ez Yohma shrine is in the lower level of Zora's Domain.

How to Solve the Shrine

In this shrine, there is a slope with water running down it, and a bunch of stones rolling down the slope. First, go up the slope, being careful to avoid getting hit by the stones. When you reach the top, the stones will stop falling.

At the top, you will find a glowing ball (don't pick it up yet), as well as some raised walkways that you can use to walk above the watery slope. Walk onto the walkway to reach the treasure chest farther down the slope that is on top of a triangular platform. It contains a Zora Spear.

Then go back to the top of the watery slope. Use Cryonis to make a sideways ice pillar behind the orange ball to push it forward onto the watery slope. It will stop in front of a black stone.

Now use Cryonis to push away any stone boulders that are still on the watery slope so they won't get in the way of the orange ball. After that, shatter all the ice pillars that you have made.

Then go to where a laser is hitting a platform farther down the slope. You need to put an ice pillar in the gap near where the laser is hitting. That way, when the orange ball rolls down the triangular platform, it won't fall through the gap and roll off at the bottom; instead, it will roll to the second triangular platform that the laser is hitting.

When that pillar is in place, go back to the orange ball and create an ice pillar behind it that pushes it up onto the stone platform. If you put the pillar in the gap with the laser, the orange ball will roll to the first triangular platform, then will hit the ice pillar and go to the second triangular platform, and from there it will stop on a rectangular platform near the bottom of the slope.

Next, make a pillar in front of the triangular platform that is near the target hole at the bottom of the slope. Position the pillar so that the orange ball will stop on that triangular platform and not roll off to the right. Make sure to position the pillar so that the orange ball will stop soon after it touches the triangular platform.

Then create an ice pillar under the orange ball to push it up onto the platform, where it will roll down onto the triangular platform and be stopped by the ice pillar that you created a moment ago. Then create a pillar under the orange ball to make it go on top of the triangular platform and roll into the target hole.

If you make a mistake and cause the orange orb to fall off of the slope, just go back to the top of the slope, where there will be a new orange orb.

When you have done it correctly, go talk to Ne'ez Yohma to get the Spirit Orb.

Ne'ez Yohma Shrine

Ne'ezYohmaShrine.jpg

Ne'ez Yohma Shrine is one of the many Shrine of Trials from Breath of the Wild.

Requirements

Pushing Power

At the very top of the shrine, there is a large orb. The end game goal here, is to get that orb to fit in the ball socket at the bottom corner on the opposite side of the shrine. As you begin to scale up the water, tons of boulders will fall down. There is also a laser that blocks Link's path. Link can use Cryonis to create an ice block, blocking off the laser. Navigate past the balls to reach the top of the shrine.

Before trying to solve the puzzle, it's worth getting the lone treasure chest that is on one of the platforms. Link can get this by using Cryonis to create an Ice Block. Alternatively, there is a ramp at the back-right corner of the shrine, opposite from where the entrance is. From there, Link can climb on the grating and open the chest to get a Zora Spear or Silverscale Spear.

Next, it's time to use Cryonis to create ice blocks, push the large orb all the way to the ball socket at the bottom of the shrine. There are numerous solutions to this, but the one below is one of the easier methods.

  • First, near the center of the room, the laser shoots in a direction where there is a small opening Link can run through. We want to play an Ice Block right in this area. On both sides there are walls that slope downward. The goal here is to place the ice block so that the large orb will eventually move down along the sloped wall, nudge against the ice block, and then continue down the slope.
  • At the very top of the shrine, use Cryonis on the back waterfall to knock the orb off the wall.
  • Place an ice block directly underneath the orb. This will push it into the area, allowing it to roll down the ramp. If the first block was placed correctly, it will move down the diagonal slopped walls, all the way to the other side of the shrine. It will eventually come to a stop on the other side of the shrine.
  • Before lift the orb again, we need to make sure it does not roll down the slopped wall up ahead. Place an Ice Block by the slopped wall down below, so that when the orb hits the slopped wall, the ice block will prevent it from rolling down.
  • Next, place an ice block underneath the orb to lift it up. If the previous block was placed correctly, it will land against the slopped wall, but will stop because of the ice block that was placed.
  • Place an ice block underneath once again, lifting the orb up. This time it will roll down right into the ball socket.

With the gate open, run over to the altar. Speak with Ne'ez Yohma to get the Spirit Orb.

Alternative Method

You can also use Stasis on the ball, at which point there are a lot of creative ways to get the ball into the socket.

Gallery

  • Create an Ice Block between the game, near the laser.

  • Knock the large orb off the wall.

  • Lift the orb up with an Ice Block.

  • The orb will roll down the ramp.

  • If placed correctly, it will roll by the Ice Block..

  • The orb will stop in front of this platform.

  • Create an Ice Block by the slopped wall.

  • Raise the orb with an Ice Block.

  • The block will stop right against the Ice Block.

  • Lift the orb once again.

  • It will roll over the slopped wall.

  • And finally land into the Ball Socket.

Zelda - Ne'ez Yohma and Pushing Power trial solution in Breath of the Wild

Ne'ez Yohma is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The challenge inside, named the Pushing Power trial, is a puzzle that has you use your Cryonis ability to manipulate falling boulders. Get it right, and you'll walk out a success.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Ne'ez Yohma

The Ne'ez Yohma shrine is located within the Lanayru Tower region, specifically in the heart of Zora's Domain, underneath the Throne Room. To get there, head east from Lanayru Tower and follow the series of bridges and paths through the mountains, that are lit by blue torches.

29a

For more on this journey and the area, it's worth taking a look at our Breath of the Wild walkthrough of Zora's Domain and the main quests it ties into.

There's no puzzle to solve here in order to access the shrine, so simply dive in when you're ready.

Ne'ez Yohma and Pushing Power trial solution

On entering the Trial, you'll be faced with a large sloped surface covered in running watter, with a series of walls and boulders on top of it. Your job is to get the special boulder-sized orb from the back left of that slope down and over a series of walls, to the socket in the bottom right.

29b

First up, head up the left hand side of the slope, until you reach the wall with the chest on top. Create a Cryonis pillar to get over the beam, which will damage you on contact, then another by the wall. Climb on it, and hop up to open the chest, which contains a Zora Spear.

29c

Now, you need to create a new pillar in the gap just to the right of the platform you're standing on, with the idea of blocking any boulders that hit it and diverting them to the slanted wall to the right.

29d

Thanks to a new update, it's now possible to play Zelda Breath of the Wild in VR. Want help with the main game? Our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough can help complete Divine Beasts Vah Ruta, Vah Rudiana, Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris and more. There's also how to get the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and all Zelda Captured Memories and Great Fairy Fountain locations, while our Shrines locations and Shrine maps hub explains where to find and solve every puzzle room, including dragon locations and Labyrinth solutions. We also have a DLC 1 guide and DLC 2 guide, including all Tingle, Majora's Mask, Phantom, Midna outfit locations.

With that done, head up to the very top of the slope, where you'll find a static, boulder-sized orb. Create a Cryonis pillar behind it on the wall to push it off the podium.

29e

Then, create a pillar underneath it, to pop it up onto the ramp in front and set it rolling.

29f

Run along the frame to the far left side to keep a good view of the ramp, until you get right to the bottom. There, you want to create a new pillar about halfway along the bottom-most slanted wall - the orb's likely static at the moment at the wall in front of that, but it'll soon be hitting this one.

:: Pokémon Sword and Shield walkthrough and guide

29g

Turning back to the hopefully static orb, put a pillar underneath it to pop it over this penultimate wall and down to the pillar you've just placed.

29h

And finally, it's time to put another pillar underneath it again, to push it up and over the last sloped wall and into the socket on the other side.

29i

That's it! On to the next.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wiki Guide

Ne’ez Yohma Shrine Walkthrough - Pushing Power

Entering the shrine, you’ll see what looks like a demented Pachinko Machine as boulders are continually rolled down a large watery slope through many obstacles. Your task is to get the sphere at the top down to the bottom and off into the receptacle without making it fall into the gorge. For this, you will need the Cryonis Rune to create barriers. Start by making your way up slowly and avoiding all the other rolling boulders - sticking to the right to avoid the laser beam.

Note: You can spy a chest on top of a platform behind the laser beam. Use the Cryonis Rune to make an ice platform that cuts off the beam so you can climb up and jump to the platform to open the chest to get a Zora Spear.

You’ll notice some of the boulders are getting caught behind walls. This is a clue - you can move them on their way by creating an ice platform beneath them to send them over. Once the area is clear, place one block in the middle of the slope just above the laser beam. Then run up to where the sphere is and give it a push by placing an ice platform on the waterfall behind it. It will fall down and hit the first wall, where your third ice block should push it up and over.

At this point it should roll down, get blocked by the first ice block and get stopped in the far corner. Before pushing it over, place another ice block just to the side of the triangle so that you can force it into the far corner of the slope. Place the next block under the sphere to get it into position, and finally push it over one more time so that it rolls over the wall and into the receptacle.

Now the way to Monk Ne’ez Yohma will be clear, and you’ll earn your next Spirit Orb.
