Who are the NA VALORANT Last Chance Qualifier Teams?

VALORANT has their World Championship coming up in the form of VALORANT Champions. While 12 teams from around the world have already qualified, there are four spots still left open for a chance at glory. There is one available for each region. Not only do fans want to know when it will start but what are the VALORANT Last Chance Qualifier Teams?

[Related: When does VALORANT Last Chance Qualifiers Start for NA?]

The wait for the games to begin will not be long as VALORANT Champions will be starting at the very beginning of December. Thus, they need to get the Last Chance Qualifiers done so that the winning teams can travel and quarantine in a timely manner.

For EU, APAC and SA, their Last Chance Qualifiers will be starting a bit earlier than North America’s. They will be starting on October 10 and 11 respectively. Then the North American VALORANT Last Chance Qualifiers Start date will be Tuesday, October 12.

The teams participating at the North American Last Chance Qualifiers will be as follows.

  • 100 Thieves
  • Version1
  • FaZe Clan
  • XSET
  • Luminosity Gaming
  • Rise
  • Cloud9 Blue
  • Gen.G Esports

This will be a double-elimination tournament with only one of these eight teams making it to VALORANT Champions. To say that the pressure will be high might be an understatement.

Considering this has been the first year of VALORANT competitive esports, many would mark it as a success. It is clear as well that they are following a similar model to what their sister game, League of Legends, has set forth for their esport. Fans can likely expect another year or two of tournaments and then it feels like instead of following the CSGO format, they will do a full-on league for teams to join.

Either way, the beginnings of VALORANT Esports has been interesting to watch and the VALORANT LCQs should be no different.

Official Statement on further event rulings released By Valorant

Based on the incident regarding FaZe Clan and Rise Nation, Valorant postponed Day 2 of VCT NA LCQ to come up with a solution. After reviewing their options, Valorant finally released a statement.

Valorant community thinks that this is the best solution Riot can come up with right now. The events would not have occurred if not for the Covid pandemic.

Honestly, we think that Riot is doing its best, especially when it is their first LAN in the region. We feel that most of this stuff will be fixed and we won’t have to fret about this ever again.

The other LANs organised by Riot had no hiccups. So, I believe they will get it together, eventually.

Jakub “Lothar” Szygulski isn’t convinced Europe has what it takes to beat North America at VCT Masters Berlin. The VALORANT analyst and expert said NA is “ahead” of EU in a recent post-match segment.

“With how they approach the game, it seems like the NA teams are actually understanding how the game is progressing,” he said. “And how important the way of executing your attack is in this game, rather than defense.”

See Valorant on Amazon

NA’s emphasis on the attacking side gives the region the edge. 100 Thieves, for example, understand how to play with KAY/O “a little bit” better than EU. The agent allows Joshua “steel” Nissan to be “more free” when it comes to approaching the game, Lothar explained.

As opposed to Killjoy, who has continued to be a frequent pick in EU and the rest of EMEA, KAY/O, who was released on June 22, helps NA teams maintain momentum and execute sites with aggression.

The last time the regions met, they were in a similar situation. NA’s Sentinels swept through Masters Reykjavík off the back of an aggressive playstyle. EU’s Fnatic, meanwhile, struggled with defensive, post-plant strategies.

If EU fails to adapt to the meta in time, Masters Berlin could be a repeat of Reykjavík. With sweeping changes to the economy in Patch 3.0, the game has continued to favor the attacking side at the highest level.

VCT Masters Berlin kicks off on Sep. 9 and, in contrast to Reykjavík, will include 16 teams from around the world. EMEA, NA, Brazil, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, and Latin America will all take part in the event.

North American Last Chance Qualifier indefinitely postponed after COVID-19 scare

Valorant is a character-based tactical shooter by Riot Games. You play in two teams, Attackers and Defenders, with 5 players on each side. There is a minimum of 13 rounds with a change of sides after 12. A team can earn one point per round. The attacker-teams objective is to earn points by placing and detonating a bomb (spike) on a specific spot. The defender-team get their points by defusing the bomb after it being placed. Points can also be earned by eliminating the enemy team without a bomb going up. There is also a timer for the attacker-team, if they don’t manage to place the bomb in that timespan, the defenders get a point for the round. The first team to achieve 13 points is the winner. Valorant offers unique cast of characters to choose from. They differ in class and abilities. Like the guns and equipment, the abilities have to be bought in a shop before each round, with gold being earned each round.

100 Thieves vs Gen.G Esports Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) NA LCQ: Prediction, head-to-head, livestream details, and more

Valorant Champions Tour NA Last Chance Qualifiers is the ultimate opportunity for players to make it to Valorant Champions 2021.

As of now, only two NA teams - Sentinels and Team Envy - have qualified for Champions 2021. However, other NA teams will have another chance to prove themselves in the Last Chance Qualifiers. The winning team will qualify for a spot at Valorant Champions 2021.

VCT NA Last Chance Qualifiers will kick start on October 12, 2021, with eight teams duking it out to make it to Valorant Champions 2021. 100 Thieves will face Gen.G Esports on October 13 12:30 AM IST. The stakes are incredibly high as only one winning team will qualify and the tournament is set to be in a double-elimination format.

Valorant Champions Tour NA Last Chance Qualifiers: 100 Thieves vs Gen.G Esports

100 Thieves will take on Gen. G Esports in their first VCT NA Last Chance Qualifiers match. 100 Thieves has qualified as the top seed from the NA region. Whereas Gen.G Esports was the last seed along with Rise.

Head-to-head

Although Gen. G took down 100 Thieves in the VCT NA Stage 1 Masters, they later lost to them in all their matches. As of yet, both teams have encountered each other three times in the Valorant Champions Tour. It will be interesting to see how the match turns out in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals.

Current matchup details

100 Thieves performed well at VCT Masters Stage 3 Berlin, but won mostly by comebacks. They also ended up being second in the VCT North America Stage 3: Challengers Playoffs, only losing to Sentinels.

Meanwhile, Gen. G couldn't get out of VCT North America Stage 3: Challengers 2, and barely won one out of the three matches played there.

Predictions

Considering the performance of both teams,100 Thieves have a higher chance of beating Gen.G Esports. However, the recent roster shuffle - replacing Steel with b0i - might impact the teams' performance. They have been one of the strongest teams in NA after Sentinels.

Nevertheless, Gen G. Esports might prepare themselves to make a stronger comeback in the tournament. Temperature will be playing instead of MkaeL. However, it will be hard to defeat 100 Thieves for Gen. G.

When and where to watch

The 100 Thieves vs. Gen.G Esports match in the Valorant Champions Tour NA Last Chance Qualifier will be broadcast live on the Valorant Champions Tour YouTube and Twitch channels from 12:30 AM IST on October 13, 2021.

Riot Games Pauses NA LCQ Over COVID Concerns

The NA Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) is the final opportunity for North American VALORANT esports teams to qualify for VALORANT Champions 2021, the biggest VCT tournament of the year. It takes place in Los Angeles on LAN with eight teams competing for one last slot to the big event.

VALORANT NA LCQ

Earlier today, FaZe Clan’s “Babybay” tested positive for COVID. But on a subsequent negative test just ten minutes later, it was revealed the initial result was a false positive.

I'm fully Vaccinated. I tested negative multiple days in a row. I tested positive and then negative 10 minutes after. Can't play on stage and have to quarantine? LA covid rules are different bro sheeeeeesh.

— FaZe babybay (@KING_BABYBAY) October 13, 2021

With the COVID scare and matches paused, many players were left clueless about the future course of action.

Riot Games did not share what the schedule for the rest of the VCT 2021 North America Last Chance Qualifier looks like. The players may even be required to quarantine and play the remaining matches from their hotel rooms.

Virtual Servers at a LAN Event

Earlier, Riot Games also issued a statement confirming that the VCT NA LCQ is using virtual servers. Meanwhile, players continue to complain about ping and tech issues at the LAN event.

VALORANT pros and staff are gathered together in Los Angeles for the LAN event. Although it is a LAN event, there’s a twist. The matches are played using virtual online servers. This means players experience disconnects and lag issues, issues they would not normally experience locally.

100 Thieves VALORANT esports player “Hiko” first tweeted about issues at the event.

GG GenG we won 2-1 and advance to play the winner of LG / XSET tonight at ~7pm PST

We’re playing this LAN on online servers and it feels weird not being on LAN servers with 0 ping 🙁

— 100T Hiko (@Hiko) October 12, 2021

His teammate “Ethan” also expressed his frustration on social media.

Playing LAN using online servers… I’ve never seen this in my life.

Our team was rubber-banding and stuttering the whole game playing on a NorCal server.

First day things 🙃

— 100T Ethan (@ethanarnold) October 12, 2021

Despite these issues, 100 Thieves still secured their spot in the upper bracket finals after a 2-1 victory over XSET.

Valorant developer Riot Games issued a statement on the reason for using virtual servers. They blamed COVID as the reason for using remote servers. It would help them continue with the tournament even if any players tested COVID positive. As of this writing, the VCT NA LCQ games for both today and tomorrow are postponed.
