Dunno how you mean by a "guide", but as far as using Wizard goes in endgame, like with my Flash Wizard build, they are extremely powerful and sp-efficient.

As Magic skill level goes up, magic consumes less SP, so getting Magic skill high is vital to Wizard.

Using spells that the enemy does not resist is also important, but shouldn't require explaining; if you're suddenly doing way less damage than normal with one spell type against an enemy, use another.

Get the password gear "Mysterious Robes" as soon as possible, as all three pieces of gear give in total +70 Magic Attack, and can be worn as early as Lv20.

Focus on raising Intelligence asap, then when INT is maxed, raise Focus. Since INT gives 1.5 Magic Attack (rounded down at odd intervals) per point, it should be the primary stat raised until it is maxed.

I've always played the caster type in games like this, so of course I started with wizard. The dependence on SP is a pain but that comes with the caster-type. What annoys me more is that the damage SUCKS. I just crafter a mooncrest wand and the fire hood and robe, and I still only do about 30 damage per hit, whereas I easily do 30 per strike with a paladin (and that's much faster)

Any tips? Am I doing something wrong? Or is wizard really just never good pure damage?

I wouldn't say Wizard is terrible, it's just not fun to level the skills and pretty much requires you always carry around a buttload of SP pots.

Mage is terrible DPS until you get the creator skills. Mages creator skill is simply x3 damage.
Otherwise yeah, mage is a weaker bow that can heal for free.

You can also put some sp regen on your gear. As an alchemist put a energy stone into your necklace or ring. You can get the sp regen on some more things, but I cannot remember where.

About the SP issues. Once you get a money making crafting proffesion ( I suggest making Pirate Benches as Carpenter) and have unlocked the bliss upgrades for stores (preferably all 4) you can buy cheap Mountain Spring waters and have whole stacks of Hi-SP potions (even super quality if you are skilled).

SP is not an issue in the game if you are prepared. And it is very easy to be prepared.

What are you in magician (fledgling, adept, etc)? How good is your wand? And have you put points into INT?

I've never even heard of the wand you're using, but I'm still using a Pine Wand and I get 30 damage per hit.

Mages actually do very good damage. It's balanced by the fact that they need SP to do anything.

My girlfriend's Wizard with 50 INT and a skill 6 wand does far more damage per hit (assuming she's using the right element on them) than my Paladin does with 50 STR and a skill 6 longsword.
However I can keep attacking as much as I like, while she needs to keep chugging SP drinks or sitting down in a corner to get SP back.

Mages are highest damage of Paladin / Mage / Hunter at all points in the game except for the first two ranks. I haven't played mercenary, I don't know them. Mage's X skill is incredibly overpowered, 1shotting most everything as you see it, outside of a few bosses.



They pay for their power in SP costs.

With auto attacks(a) only, Paladin does indeed outperform Mage. For ranged WITHOUT sp use, Hunter will do nicely throughout the game.

The Magician or Wizard is a Life you can choose to lead in the game Fantasy Life. It is one of 12 Lives that can be chosen as the player's main life at any time during the game by visiting the Guild Master (except during a story mission).

Magicians use staves (called 'wands' in other versions) to inflict ranged, elemental damage to enemies and to heal as well.

The Wizard's Life Shop is located at Esmerelda's Academy of Magic, in Al Maajik Spelltown.

Skills[]

When the player chooses the Magician life he learns 5 skill: Magic, Fire Magic, Water Magic, Wind Magic, and Earth Magic. The max skill level is 15 (20 with the DLC). To unlock the new cap Legend rank must be reached and then, with the Magician life active, talk to Divinus. He will increase the cap of theses 5 skills to 20 and upgrade the licence to God-in-Training rank.

Abilities[]

The Wizard collects spirits (Spirit of Water, Spirit of Wind, Spirit of Earth, and Spirit of Fire) in their staff and uses them to harness power as an attack or healing spell.

When the player reaches God/Creator rank in the Wizard life, they will gain the ability known as "Ancient Wisdom" which can be activated when the player has a double charged Skill Gauge. When activated, Ancient Wisdom gives a 3x buff to Magic Attacks and the Skill Gauge will continuously refill for 60 seconds. No stamina will be used when casting any magical skills whilst Ancient Wisdom (Creator Mode) is active.

Playing a Wizard[]

A Wizard can be used to support other classes in multiplayer due to their ability to heal not only themselves but their group members in a certain range. The most useful stats for a Magician are Intelligence and Focus.

Being a Wizard uses a lot of stamina, the player must be sure to have enough SP potions. Apple Juice, Cows' Milk, Springwater or Honey are just some items which can regenerate stamina, too. A recommended item is the Magical Milkshake, since it temporarily raises your Intelligence stat along with restoring SP, and a Superior Magical Milkshake fully restores your SP. The player can also use the "Sit Down" and the "Lie Down" emotes to regain SP at a high rate.

Wizards cannot use the majority of Armour craftable by Blacksmiths (with a few exceptions), but can wear most items crafted by a Tailor. Their weak armor makes their Defence poor, so it's advised to keep a distance away from enemies and take advantage of the Wizard's arsenal of ranged attacks.

The player has to keep weaknesses and resistances of enemies in mind. For example, a Carrotella will be healed by water magic.

Staves[]

The Magicians uses staves to inflict ranged, elemental damage to enemies and to heal as well. Staves can be obtain from:

  • Shops that are all over the world.
  • Enemies Drops and Bounties.
  • Treasure chests that are all over the world.
  • NPCs. Such as King Erik Stone.
  • Crafted by Carpenters.

Some of them come with special effects useful to fight enemies and when crafting more effects can be added. To see full list of effects visit Crafting Effects.
