Top 25 Best Weapon Mods For Skyrim (All Free)

The arsenal of the Dragonborn is usually something to behold in the latter stages of the game, once you are past level 50 and have the best gear available for the taking.

But, once you have played the game several times, or when you are on your first playthrough but have finished most tasks, you will want fresh weapons to add to the quest mods.

So for this post I’ve compiled a large list of 25 weapon mods that will enhance your Elder Scrolls experience to unforeseen heights.

Some of these mods are upgrades on already existing weapons. Others add dozens of new swords, bows, and unique gear to the game. But note that all these mods are free so you won’t be paying a dime.

It is up to you to decide which of these you would rather play with, and how lore-friendly you would like the game to remain.

Witcher’s Silver Sword

Witchers Silver Sword Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

If you are a player who loves to mix things up with other franchises, you will enjoy the Witcher’s Silver Sword mod.

It simply replaces the Skyrim Silver Sword with one used in The Witcher series, providing the unrelenting strength of Geralt in order to kill the mighty foes he encountered during his adventures.

The Silver Sword does not have any particular effects, but it gives you the unique feel of authenticity and spins the world of Skyrim into something different.

It is well-detailed as well, helping to create more immersion!

CL’s Ebony Weapons

Ebony Weapons Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

One common thing you will discover when looking for Skyrim weapon mods is the Ebony weapons are not fan-favorites and could look better – especially when you take into consideration how the armors are awesome.

CL himself, a popular modder in the Skyrim community, has retextured many of the base game Ebony weapons and turned the designs into incredibly beautiful pieces of weaponry.

The CL’s Ebony Weapons mod is a compilation of all of CL’s work in one file, which will replace all base game ebony weapons with spectacular and innovative items.

Better Bows

Better Bows mod

Check Out This Mod

The Better Bows mod allows the base game bows to be complemented by a larger selection of ranged weapons, which will enhance your arsenal and add a much-needed touch of variety to the selection.

The bows were designed using the base templates of Skyrim’s ranged weapons, so they do not look out of place!

Unique Bows Collection

Unique Bows Collection Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

Much like the last mod, the Unique Bows Collection adds 10 new bows to the game with exceptional designs.

They are simpler than the Better Bows mod, but the mod is better supported and works better with enchantments, earning it a higher spot on our list.

If you’re big into the archery path then you’ll want to check out these weapons.

Warglaive of Azzinoth (Twin Blades)

Warglaive of Azzinoth mod

Check Out This Mod

If you are a Warcraft fan or an avid WoW player you are going to absolutely love this next mod.

It adds the infamous Twin Blades of Azzinoth to the game, used by Illidan in the Warcraft lore.

Much like the original blades, this mod comes pre-enchanted with the “Power of Green Fire”, giving them an unbelievable amount of power but does not allow you to place any further enchantments on them.

Magicka Sabers

Magicka Sabers Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

Are you a Star Wars fan looking to keep a Skyrim playthrough lore-friendly?

The Magicka Sabers mod is going to suit your needs. This mod adds lightsabers into the game, but it is explained how the sabers themselves are powered with elements found in Skyrim.

Their existence is technically logical in Tamriel.

Sure, the explanation might not be the best out of every other mod on this list. But it should suffice if you wish to slay foes with your lightsaber across the plains of the realm!

The Ice Blade of The Monarch

Ice Blade of The Monarch mod

Check Out This Mod

This mod adds a couple of new weapons to the game, as well as a staff, which can be obtained by completing a quest which adapts to the lore of the game.

The powerful weapons will serve you well in battle and strike fear in the hearts of every foe daring to stand in your way.

Dawnguard Arsenal

Dawnguard Arsenal mod

Check Out This Mod

If you have played the Dawnguard DLC and fought the Volkihar Menace, you probably know their weapons are on the limited end of the spectrum.

This mod aims to correct that by adding countless new weapons with the same design you would expect Dawnguard weapons to have.

Some of these models were made from scratch, and the work put into them is extremely noticeable!

Expanded Skyrim Weaponry

Expanded Skyrim Weaponry mod

Check Out This Mod

Do you feel like the base game weapons are lacking in variety?

Well, this mod is what you are after. It adds 95 new and different weapons to the game, making your choice of finding a favorite more difficult than before.

All of the weapons are lore-friendly and use the same materials that are included in the base game.

Automatic Crossbows

Automatic Crossbows mod

Check Out This Mod

This mod adds automatic crossbows to the lore of Skyrim by presenting you a story where the Thalmor find some old Dwarven blueprints showing how to build these fearsome weapons.

As such, you will be able to fire arrows as if they were machine gun ammunition!

Keep in mind this weapon is a bit overpowered so if you are not keen on ancient over-the-top guns, this might not do much for you.

Ghosus Weapon Pack

Ghosus Weapon Pack mod

Check Out This Mod

The Ghosus Weapon Pack adds many different new weapons into the game.

There are a total of 18 new weapons, but each one has 32 variations and they come with a unique shield emblematic to this mod.

The weapons are highly detailed and look as if they belong in the game, so finding them and wielding them is going to be as lore-friendly as you can imagine.

Though the weapons adapt to the game, they have their roots and origins in comics and other stories. You can even get Thor’s Hammer with this pack!

Dread Knight Weapon Set

Dread Knight Weapon Set mod

Check Out This Mod

So the Dread Knight Weapon Set makes its glorious return to Skyrim after the success this mod had in the days of Oblivion.

It adds a set of weapons seeming to fit right in with a knight who represents death, so dark knights and warrior necromancers might find a lot of joy in using these weapons.

In any case, the weapons are fairly balanced, and the design is as beautiful as you can imagine.

The weapons have inscriptions written in Daedra, adding to the eerie feeling they emit when you wield them.

Lost Longswords

Lost Longswords Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

Fans of two-handed weapons and swords that feel a bit exaggerated to wield into battle, rejoice.

This mod adds a collection of longswords to the game that seemed to be lost with time, but they have made their way into your hands, thanks to this amazing mod.

It even included a Dragonbone longsword you can craft, making it one of the most powerful in the game.

If you feel like the longswords included in the base game are just not enough, you will need to try this one out.

You are undoubtedly going to walk out happy with the many new weapons that get introduced to the game using this mod!

Lore Weapon Expansion

Lore Weapon Expansion mod

Check Out This Mod

The amount of beautifully crafted weapons introduced with this mod are not only great, but also extremely carefully crafted.

You can see the modder is an artist who has put plenty of work into developing these amazing new weapons, amongst which you will find many types of daggers, swords, axes, and other heavy weapons made of the main materials found in the game.

The additions are strict to the lore of Skyrim.

And none of the weapons introduced to the game feel out of place no matter how you play.

It is a truly fascinating mod and the weapons are a work of art.

Faction Crossbows

Faction Crossbows mod

Check Out This Mod

One really wonders why crossbows were not added into the Elder Scrolls story when Skyrim was released, but what is done is done.

Thankfully, modders have found a way to create these weapons and introduce them into the game.

The Faction Crossbows mod is probably one of the most lore-friendly mods out of them all, as it adds a craft-able crossbow, as well as variations for every faction in the game.

You can use your Dark Brotherhood crossbow to slay the souls of the innocent, or the Thieves’ crossbow to aid you in your days as a robber.

Elemental Arrows

Elemental Arrows mod

Check Out This Mod

There may be many different arrows in Skyrim, but it still feels as if Bethesda should have allowed players to be more creative in terms of style.

This mod does exactly that by adding a ton of different arrows to the game, all of which have unique effects which improve your playstyle.

They also allow you to vary bows and combine them with new ammunition.

You will be able to craft arrows with special effects based on the arrows already included in the game, so things will not feel out of place when you shoot them.

9. The Huntsman

The Huntsman mod

Check Out This Mod

The Huntsman is the most spectacular bow modders have managed to create for Skyrim.

It is such an amazing bow, no other mod comes close to it, perhaps maybe the Scoped Bows mod.

It is the perfect companion for all kinds of players – but particularly hunters.

The mod is designed to level up as the player does, which means it will not become useless after a certain level limit.

You can even upgrade the bow and change its attributes.

Upgrading it also changes its shape, which is a neat addition in a mod and not in the base game.

8. Weapons of The Third Era

Weapons of The Third Era mod

Check Out This Mod

Though this mod is quite old, it still stands amongst the best Skyrim weapon mods in the Nexus community.

It adds new and unique weapons to the game, all of which aim to resemble those used in the Third Era of the world.

The designs of the weapons are magnificent and beautiful, with steel, silver, and even glass variations having been included in the arsenal this mod adds to the game.

7. Heavy Armory – New Weapons

Heavy Armory Weapons skyrim

Check Out This Mod

Heavy Armory adds a staggering new weapons to the game, including weapons no other Elder Scrolls game has ever entertained.

You will be able to wield a halberd and strike a fierce blow using clubs or spears, so it is up to you to decide what you are going to do with the variety this mod provides.

Keep in mind, you will also find many of these new weapons wielded by foes in the wild.

Be prepared to stand ready in case you encounter a high-leveled enemy wearing a giant halberd against you.

6. Sword of the Ancient Tongues

Sword of the Ancient Tongues mod

Check Out This Mod

This mod adds a single sword into the game.

But dare I say it is the most lore-friendly sword on this list.

The sword has encryptions of Akatosh, as well as an inscription in draconic tongue, which reads “Dragonborn, by his honor is sworn, to keep evil forever at bay&#;”.

The sword is incredibly detailed. And everything looks so in place you can see this modder is a skilled 3D artist.

Note you will need a solid crafting to create this sword, but the effort you put into it is as worth it as it gets – it is an amazing weapon worthy of being wielded by the Dragonborn.

5. JaySus Swords

JaySus Swords mod

Check Out This Mod

The sheer number of swords, blades, and axes this mod adds to the game is so staggeringly high, you will struggle to try them all.

In fact, the mod adds a grand total of 53 weapons into the game, all of which have unique designs and look extremely well made.

The creator of the mod, JaySus, may not be the most creative of modders in terms of naming, but he sure did one heck of a good job with the creation of such a unique arsenal of weapons.

4. Scoped Bows

Scoped Bows mod

Check Out This Mod

If you want scoped weaponry, well Skyrim may not be the best game to obtain it.

However some modders beg to differ. They have managed to incorporate scoped weapons into Skyrim without breaking the essence of the game.

Admittedly, it is difficult to explain why a bow would have a scope in this era, but hey, that is a small little detail.

This mod adds lore-friendly scoped bows into the game, and the bows look very natural and seem to fit in quite well with the overall feel of the game.

3. Isilmeril LOTR Weapons Collection

Isilmeril LOTR Weapons Collection mod

Check Out This Mod

Are you a fan of Lord of the Rings? If you’re playing Skyrim then you most likely are fond of LotR or its lore(a wild guess!)

This mode, created by modder Isilmeril, adds a massive number of weapons from Middle Earth and places them straight into its resembling Tamriel, and they are all yours for the taking.

You can choose to wield the mighty mace of Sauron, as it is included with this mod!

The number of weapons and their quality is staggering, and you are almost guaranteed to fall in love with what this mod has to offer.

There is an extra mod that retextures everything to make it look even better!

2. Unique Uniques

Unique Uniques Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

Have you ever wondered why the unique weapons in Skyrim are not really unique?

You find this extremely rare mace once wielded by an Emperor and enchanted in the forges of Oblivion itself, yet its appearance is equal to any other mace in the game.

This mod fixes this issue. You will be able to tell when a weapon is unique solely because of its appearance.

As such, it aims to retexture every unique weapon in the game to really make it stand out from the rest!

1. Immersive Weapons

Immersive Weapons Skyrim mod

Check Out This Mod

Immersive Weapons takes the first spot on this list because of how well made it is.

The mod adds a wide variety of different weapons into the game with variants depending on the material.

It focuses on keeping things as accurate to the story as possible. And you will find the models of each weapon are perfectly integrated with the environment so easily.

The mod took a very long time to make and was updated for six months after its release, which makes it one of the best mods in the Nexus community and the most downloaded weapon mod by Skyrim fans!

Lore Weapon Expansion (L.W.E) is a project that aims to expand the available weapons found in-game via loot and the crafting menu. All of the included weapons are lore based, meaning they are either based on designs found in previous games (with visual upgrades) or based on descriptions/places/characters mentioned in the series lore.

The new weapons are distributed via leveled lists so you'll come across them during your adventures, some are also craft-able and can be found in the crafting menu once you have the required perks and all weapons can be upgraded too.

The Silver weapons also come with the additional silver effect, so the undead will receive more damage.

What Skyrim&#;s Best Lore-Friendly Mods Are

Players that tire of the base game can install mods to up the ante, but some mods are downright ridiculous. Instead, here are some lore-friendly mods.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimcame out in , but there's plenty of people still playing the game almost a decade later. The fifth entry into The Elder Scrolls series offers incredible replayability just in the vanilla game, but a whole community of mods has developed on top of that. Mods like Enderal: The Shards of Order completely realign The Elder Scrolls V, making it a whole new adventure. Most mods, though, just rearrange base aspects of the game or add new content to Skyrim, such as weapons, perks or new interfaces.

Some mods add content that has no previous connection to Skyrim. For instance, if the player is a fan of trains, there's a mod in Skyrim that changes every dragon into Thomas the Tank Engine. However the following mods are much more realistic, adding features by taking cues from previous Elder Scrolls titles such as Morrowind and Oblivion, and remain lore-friendly to the original game.

Related: Everything We Know About The Elder Scrolls 6

The Lore Weapon Expansion mod for Skyrim expands the number of obtainable weapons. Some weapons in the mod are inspired by weapons from previous games. For instance, there is almost a whole set of new Cyrodilic Iron weapons, inspired by Oblivion, which is set in the province of Cyrodiil. There's also new glass, steel and silver Cyrodilic weapons, along with eight new Dwemer weapons from Vvardenfell, an island in Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. This Skyrim mod also introduces iconic unique weapons from previous games, such as Goldbrand, a sword created by dragons. This mod is very compatible with other mods for Skyrim, and can be used simultaneously with many of them.

Skyrim Lore-Friendly Mods Tie Into Past Elder Scrolls Games

Another The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mod that is very lore friendly is the Oblivion Gates mod. It's a pretty simple mod: it adds ruined Oblivion Gates to Skyrim's landscape. Oblivion Gates were crucial to the plot of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, linking the Daedric world to the mortal plane. According to lore, the Oblivion Crisis devastated Skyrim despite the fact that no gates remain in the vanilla game. This mod changes just that.

Deadly Dragons is a mod for Skyrim that increases the diversity and power of the game's winged predators. In the base version of Skyrim there are seven types of dragons, all of which seem to be easier than a Frost Troll. Deadly Dragons adds 14 new types of dragons to the base set, along with difficulty modifiers for the seven dragons already present. If players don't want to add anything that isn't in the lore, the 'Loremonger Edition' of this mod allows players to use the full feature set of this mod without adding the 14 new kinds of dragons, thus remaining lore-friendly. What's the point of that? Getting to use Deadly Dragons' assault feature, an auxiliary dragon spawner that works independent of Skyrim's in-place spawner. Toggles in the mod's menu allow players to set the frequency, difficulty, and even amount of dragons, making it possible to set up 'dragon raids' upon unsuspecting holds. This mod also allows players to toggle NPC's as 'essential' so they can't be killed by the more-powerful dragons.

With no Elder Scrolls 6 in sight, Skyrim is going to be the top Elder Scrolls game for a while yet. Players that tire of the base game can install mods to up the ante, but some mods are downright ridiculous. The lore-friendly mods listed in this article like Lore Weapon Expansion and Oblivion Gates take from previous games and giveThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim a new twist. Deadly Dragons itself adds a whole new challenge, even in the lore-friendly edition. Make sure to try them all, before your adventure takes an arrow to the knee.

Mod A Day 16: lore weapon expansion and Expanded skyrim weaponry

Skyrim: The Top 15 Weapons And Armor Mods So Far

Skyrim offers a lot when it comes to to vanilla weapons and armor, but with such a strong modding community, there's reason to go a step further. Talented mod creators have cranked out some truly spectacular weapon and armor mods that can personalize one's play experience for the better.

RELATED: Skyrim: The Top 10 Graphics Mods So Far

The following list breaks down each mod based on the overall value they add to the game. As such, it focuses less on mods that affect single items in the game, and more on sets of weapons and armor that have more to offer.

Updated January 28th, by Derek Draven: As mentioned above, we've updated this list to include new entries. The strength of the Skyrim modding community is impossible to overstate, and many talented creators have brought stunning items to the game that drastically improve the play experience Skyrim has to offer.

This is stunning, given that Skyrim has been out for nearly a decade at this point. Yet, the modding community is still passionate about the platform. Weapon and armor mods are still one of the areas in the community focused on less, as opposed to texture or graphics mods. That's what makes this list so important. To truly bump up one's play experience, these mods are a definite must.

15 Artifacts - The Tournament Of The Ten Bloods

For players who don't mind something a bit more outrageous, Artifacts - The Tournament of the Ten Bloods is a great choice. It brings a lot of weapons, rings and shields into the game, many of which sport crazy designs that still look pretty cool.

Each of the artifacts in question has a story behind it, and some even require quests to be completed in order to obtain them. It's perfect for those who don't mind going outside the realm of lore-friendliness, especially when it comes to their armor sets.

14 Skyrim SE Expanded Skyrim Weaponry

This mod pack contains a whopping standalone weapons to build on the game's existing options. Most are done in the existing styles of the game's craftsmen, and feature everything from swords and pikes, to axes and warhammers.

Some of the designs are a bit over-the-top, but they're perfect for anyone who wants a bit of pizzazz in their arsenal. They can be considered lore-friendly from an aesthetic standpoint, and players are free to craft those that tickle their fancy.

13 Jaysus Swords SE

To inject a mountain of weapons into the game, Jaysus Swords SE is a good place to start. This is a spectacular mod that adds in weapons with multiple different styles for players to craft and locate.

This pack contains over 40 different weapons, from swords, to daggers and axes. It's the perfect place to build upon your in-game weapons mods, rather than taking up valuable ESP slots that contribute to the maximum of

12 The Gifts Of Akatosh

A lot of the in-game vanilla armor in Skyrim isn't exactly befitting of a Dragonborn, and it takes a special kind of armor mod to set ones-self apart. The Gifts of Akatosh is a mod that seeks to make the Dragonborn stand out from everyone else in the game with a striking design.

The mod consists of 10 individual items that can only be crafted once the player locates a set of exclusive items, including "the Blessed Metal of Akatosh." From there, one must travel to the Skyforge in Whiterun in order to craft this fine piece of armor. Don't forget the weapons either, including one truly badass looking sword.

11 DCR - King Crusader Mega Pack

For those who want to inject a little Witch-King of Angmar into their armor options, DCR - King Crusader Mega Pack is just the thing. It's a positively wicked looking assortment of weapons and armor that blend a number of different aesthetics into one unique pack.

The long robes are reminiscent of the Greybeard fashion style, but pumped up with sharp steel plating cut to resemble dragon bone. The steel gauntlets are a nice touch, as are the ancient looking sword and dagger, the latter of which resembles a Morgul Blade from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Epic armor for an epic game.

10 Immersive Armors

Immersive Armors is widely considered the base mod when it comes to protective gear. It expands greatly on Skyrim's existing armor sets with lore-friendly additions that integrate into the existing world in a realistic way.

The mod sports almost individual items ranging from shields and armor sets, to scarves, earrings and capes. The MCM menu allows you to toggle everything from crafting ability to world distribution of said items, right down to which enemy types can use them. It's a top-notch mod that no Skyrim gamer should do without.

9 Immersive Weapons

Immersive Weapons takes the exact same approach as Immersive Armors by tossing in a total of unique weapons into the base game.

The same MCM-style customization approach carries over as well, letting one set which weapons can be crafted, and how they're to be distributed in world. Enjoy the use of katanas, scimitars, battle staffs, claymores and spears, to name just a few. When paired with Immersive Armors, it's a combination that can't be beat.

8 Thane Weapons Reborn

Just as it bit to get a sweater from one's Aunt at Christmas, so too is it a massive disappointment when the various Jarls reward the player with boring weapons after they've toiled on their behalf. If these weapons are going on the rack, they had better be something special.

Thane Weapons Reborn overhauls the Jarls' best weapons and makes them stand out in a number of ways. Not only do they look great, but they level up along with the player while offering their own individual battle perks.

7 Zim's Immersive Artifacts

There are many fabled objects of lore strewn throughout Skyrim, including weapons and armor that one can collect on special quests. Zim's Immersive Artifacts is an overhaul of these specialized items.

RELATED: Skyrim: The Top 10 Sound & Music Mods So Far

The mod alters such popular items as the Blade of Woe, the Staff of Magnus, Dawnbreaker and Wuuthrad, but it also tackles Miraak's Dragonborn equipment, Nightingale weapons and armor, and Thane items. Stats and enhancements have also been altered to better suit their legendary status.

6 Lore Weapon Expansion

Skyrim's base weaponry is fine, but there's room to broaden out. Lore Weapon Expansion does exactly that by focusing on lore-friendly weapons that one  can find throughout the game world or crafting table.

Each weapon looks and feels like a genuine Skyrim creation, which is important for those who don't like to stray too far from established canon. A lot of talented modeling work went into this one, and it shows.

5 Dragonbone Barbarian Armors

This is a great mod, mostly because it takes the dragon element of Skyrim and does something quite useful with it. Dragonbone Barbarian Armors adds a sense of rustic brutality to one's armor collection that is suitable for both male and female characters.

The mod features over 15 individual armor pieces strewn throughout Skyrim. No, they're not craftable, which is a bit of a drawback, but at least it gives one something to hunt for within the Reach, the Rift and Pale locations.

4 Skyforge Weapons

The Skyforge is supposed to crank out the most powerful weapons in Skyrim.  Skyforge Weapons helps that along by overhauling the weapons with appropriate, unique versions.

The mod also features a quest that must be completed to unlock smithing perks for certain weapons, which adds a layer of depth to the experience. Definitely a step up from the vanilla weapon set.

3 Isilmeriel's LOTR Weapon Collection

If one doesn't mind sacrificing lore-friendliness for the sake of cool, then Isilmeriel's LOTR Weapon Collection is the mod to beat. It adds beautifully modeled Lord of the Rings weapons into Skyrim so players can finally live out their nerdiest fantasies.

They're all here, from Sting and Narsil, to Glamdring and Sauron's Mace. Wraith swords are here too, as are Elven blades and the Morgul blade. Let's face it, LOTR weapons easily fit into the Skyrim world. After all, who doesn't want to stare Alduin right in the face and yell, "You shall not pass!"

2 Talos Housecarl Armor Pack

On the other hand, if lore is your bag, you're going to love the Talos Housecarl Armor Pack. This mod adds 12 new items to the game that were used by the Housecarl of the legendary Talos during his prime, including a war hammer.

RELATED: 10 Video Games That Deserve A TV Adaptation Besides The Witcher

Each piece must be crafted, and requires the Advanced Armors perk, which gives players something to strive for. It's a beautifully detailed set that adds a lot of immersion to the game.

1 Any DeserterX Armor Mod

This might be cheating, but there's a reason for it. DeserterX has been creating some of the most unique and outstanding Skyrim armor mods around. Primarily aimed at female characters, they're incredibly detailed and imaginative.

Although the armors are designed more on the sensual side of the spectrum, some offer various levels of coverage. They aren't the most lore-friendly armors you can get either, but their incredible visual flair makes them stand out. Not many creators have such a vivid imagination.

  1. Lore Weapon Expansion Requiem

If you like stuff that feels at home in Skyrim, I suggest Lore Weapon Expansion and Heavy Armory. Pretty much every other expansion I've tried feels out of place stylistically, or else poorly balanced, not lore friendly, etc. Not sure if it's available for SE but it's a nice mod. Adds in way more variety and generally doesn't break any. May 4, - This version is for Skyrim Special Edition Lore Weapon Expansion (L.W.E) is a project that aims to expand the available weapons found.

Lore

I didn't end up adding this or inconsequential to my game because I've never actually finished Skyrim but they seem like they'd be great for someone doing another playthrough.WICO: pretty intense overhaul of all character modelsConvenient Horses: lots of horse features, this mod is insaneUnread Books Glow: books you haven't read yet glow so you don't have to pick up and look at each book first.

Lore Weapon Expansion Requiem

Hey guys I'm a veteran modder who has had a fantastic time building and testing this setup based around my favorite mod ever (Legacy of the Dragonborn) and it blows my mind that people have taken the time to put this guide together considering the amount of work that involves. These authors are the best and I'm so pumped to get a real playthrough started, but I've recently run into a problem that is driving me up the wall because I simply can't figure out how to fix it. I'm really hoping I'm just making a stupid mistake somewhere. I'm following the guide to the letter so that is my mod list, with LOOT determining load order.)I've finished the main guide, meaning I've installed everything in it (and am updating it daily), and it's running quite stable except for one major issue I've just now realized: a LOT of the merged.esps are failing to fully activate in-game. Example: the Heads-Up Display Merge has A Matter of Time, iHUD, and Lock Overhaul.

So I merge the three mods (I'm no stranger to Merge Plugins), add the new merged.esp to the order and place it in its spot, activate it, and then deactivate the three original mods. Upon loading the game (with Heads-Up Display.esp active), Lock Overhaul is active and shows an MCM as it should.

However, neither AMoT nor iHUD are functional and there are no MCMs for them.My first thought was that Merge Plugins missed some files that needed to be manually added to the merged.esp (like the reminder in the guide says), but AMoT and iHUD have nothing but.esp,.bsa, and the meta.ini. All three.esp.merged files correctly show in the mergeplugins folder of the Heads-Up Display merged mod, and I think both their.bsas are in the right place with the merged.esp. Am I correct that there's nothing to add? Is that the wrong setup for the merged mod? Here's where it gets weird though: I loaded the game with the merged.esp as well as the individual ones. Of course, normally you wouldn't do this because it defeats the purpose of a merge, but I wanted to see what happened. Maybe I could force their MCMs and then remove the old single.esps and be good to go? Sure enough, not only do AMoT and iHUD activate in this case, but they each have duplicate MCMs!

So the game detects that there are two instances of the mod at that point, which is correct (one from the merged.esp and one from the original single.esp that should be able to be deactivated). But if I remove the individual.esps and run with just the Heads-Up Display merged.esp, AMoT and iHUD disappear again! So I guess the TL;DR is that I have a number of mods that will only activate in-game with their original non-merged.esps. If they are part of a merge, they are not activating. Majestic Mountains is another example. No matter what I do with the Landscape Environment and Clutter merge, the only way to get Majestic Mountains to work in-game is to re-activate the old single.esps, which makes merging pointless (in that case all the necessary textures look to be in the right place in the merged mod, so what is missing?). Is there manual work that I have to do after Merge Plugins makes the merge? Am I missing files? Please somebody just come along and say 'you just have to do this, you moron' so I can get on with this, because I think I'm losing my mind.

All you have to do in BAE is drag the.bsa into the drop area and extract, right? You don't have to 'save' or anything? You put all the.bsa extracted in only one folder? You have to put the different.bsa extracted in their own mod folder, so the.bsa of iHUD in its mod folder (after you can even delete the.bsa files)For extracting bsa, i open the mod in explorer, i copy the directory of the mod, than i open BAE and i drag the.bsa into BAE and then when it ask where to extract i put the directory that i have copied before and than i extractEdited by Altair, 19 February - AM. Any mod that is merged need there BSA's extracted so the assets are properly copied across. Once you have extracted delete the BSAs also have you made sure you have copy general assets ticked in Merge plugins?take note of the setup images i postedThanks Lexy!

I did ensure that I had the Merge Plugins setup exactly like the screen shots. Based on what you and Altair have kindly told me, it looks like BSA extracting is my weak spot and I may have gone a little haywire there I will get to work on fixing up those merges and making sure my BSAs are extracted in the right places. I'm now quite confident that's the issue. Thanks both of you for your assistance! I'll update soon if/when things are fixed in case anyone else is having BSA issues.
